tasty beef with soy sauce


4 turnips (about 1 1/2 pounds)

3 large carrots

2 medium tomatoes, cut into wedges

1 thumb-sized piece of ginger

2 green onions

2 tablespoons oil, or as needed

2 pounds boneless stewing beef, cut into chunks

3 cups beef broth

1 cup water

3 tablespoons dark soy sauce

1 tablespoon light soy sauce

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 chilli, deseeded and chopped
